Business Systems Analyst – Saskatoon, SK

Position Summary:

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for assisting coordination and implementation of supporting project life cycle. This would include working with the teams for requirements gathering, creation of project plans and facilitating project execution. This position supports business processes and systems in various areas of finance, operations, manufacturing, research and development, human resources and marketing and sales.


Duties & Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

  • Work with internal business stakeholders to analyze and clearly document business requirements, processes, business rules, policies
  • Reengineer existing processes using business analysis, lean or any other process improvement methodology
  • Write business cases including calculations of savings and expenses over 10 years to articulate Net Present Value
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, recognize and reconcile conflicts, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Identify, document and recommend process, policy, organizational and technology solutions to complex business problems
  • Define functional requirements, business rules, and user stories for development teams
  • Responsible for end to end testing and product quality including creating quality management plans and developing & documenting and test user cases based on project requirements
  • Estimate project effort, and create optimal recommendations for cost and timeline
  • Planning and estimating project schedule, cost and scope

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Expertise in designing, developing, and implementing re-engineered business processes and associated software
  • Expertise in serving as the conduit between the business and the software development team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including exposure to MS Project and Visio


Experience & Education:

  • Typically a minimum 7+ years of work experience as a Business Analyst is required. Equivalent experience is considered
  • Degree in business, or computer science, or equivalent education/professional experience
  • IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) CBAP certification for business analyst is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating stakeholder engagement to analyze & document business and technical requirements
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Experience in writing Requests for Proposals and contract management and negotiation is desired
  • Formal Change Management experience desired
